About Frugal Victoria
Frugal Victoria was born out of necessity during a time when my personal household finances were very tight; we needed to provide for a family of three with a very limited income.
In Victoria, BC, the average household spends a significant portion of their income on housing -- whether they are able to afford a mortgage or are renting. Aside from housing costs, there are additional costs attached to almost every good which must be transported to the island, more so in recent years with the rise in fuel costs.
I was born and raised here (and have no intention of leaving any time soon, despite the challenges) and, though I no longer need to live frugally, I continue to keep track of bargains and money-saving tips to make living here a bit easier on the bank balance.
It's not all financial, though. I am also aware that how I choose to live has an impact on the earth and on future generations, so you will find lots of tips on reducing, reusing and recycling mixed in with the money-saving ideas.
Your frugal host,
Cheryl DeWolfe
